October 21, 2009 - Just in time for the Christmas shopping season, you can pre-order your Biology Department t-shirt and pick up a few for your friends and family. These are your standard 100% cotton shirts with the new Department of Biology design for only $10 (S-XL) or $11 (2XL) and will make great stocking stuffers. Shirts come in maroon (with white font) or white (with black font). We expect the shirts to arrive by the end of Oct.

For Department of Biology faculty, staff, and graduate students please bring the order form and your payment to any of the BioGSA officers (Lisa Ellis, Carol B. Johnson, Lucas Allende, or Natalie Thompson). If you pre-ordered, I will send out an email or contact you directly when the shirts arrive.

For undergraduates, once the shirts are here BioGSA representatives will sell t-shirts during the day in Heldenfels. We will be there during laboratory class changes. We will post new information to this website and will let your lab TAs know the selling dates and times. To facilitate the selling process, you may print out the online order form and bring it with you. Please note that we will only accept cash payments from undergraduates.

If you’re interested, the BioGSA is looking into the pricing for collared shirts and coffee mugs.

As discussed in the last BioGSA meeting, the BioGSA was able to get $800 from the Association of Former Students via the Department of Student Activities to put towards funding grad student travel to conferences.

You will notice the deadline for submission is Nov 4th by 5pm and that all submissions should be made via email to me. This will facilitate the evaluation process. We (a group of unbaised faculty/officers) will award $200 to 2 grad students for travel through Jan 31, 2010. If you will be going to a conference between Feb 1 and Aug 1, 2010 we will host a 2nd round in Dec/Jan to give out the final 2 grants.
